WARDOGS FAQ
Answers to the most common questions about the WARDOGS game.
Is WARDOGS free to play?
No — WARDOGS is a premium purchase: $39.99 for the Standard Edition and $49.99 for the Supporter Edition on Steam. The developer has stated there is no battle pass and no pay-to-win; cosmetics aside, everything that matters is earned with in-game cash.
When did WARDOGS come out?
WARDOGS released into Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026 for Windows PC. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are slated for 2028 per the Team17 announcement. The Early Access price is the lowest it will be — the plan is a price increase at the 1.0 launch.
What is WARDOGS?
A tactical all-out-warfare FPS from BULKHEAD (Battalion 1944) and publisher Team17. Every match drops 100 players across three teams — LONESTAR, VALKYRA and MANTICORE — into a 16×16 km map where they fight over one Control Zone with destructible buildings, vehicles and a persistent cash economy.
How does the cash system work in WARDOGS?
You start with $10,000 and your balance persists between matches. Every loadout is paid for per life — die and the gear is gone (there is currently no insurance). Kills, zone time, tower captures and deposits into the Control Zone all earn cash, and seasons end with a wipe that resets everyone to the starting line.
What are the best weapons in WARDOGS?
Community consensus after EA week one puts T-21, FAL, SVD and PKM in S tier. The $600 T-21 is the best overall value (28 damage, 750 RPM, full damage to 300 m); the FAL ($6,500, unlocks at Assault Level 35) is the damage king; the SVD ($4,800) leads marksmen rifles and the PKM ($4,500) owns sustained fire. The weapons comparison page has the full tier table.
What classes does WARDOGS have?
Six progression tracks: Assault (rifles, frontline), Medic (SMGs, revives, defibrillator), Recon (snipers, DMRs, enemy marking), Support (resupply, LMGs, shotguns, launchers), Engineer (vehicle repairs, building kit, anti-armor) and Driver (vehicles and transport). Each levels independently — the classes page breaks down every track.
What are the maps in WARDOGS?
Three official battlegrounds, each 16×16 km (256 km²): Bakurani and Ozeti shipped playable at Early Access launch, and Zestafona is revealed for rollout during EA. Every match happens inside a randomized 2×2 km Control Zone drawn from the larger map — the maps page covers each theater.
Are the three factions different in WARDOGS?
In the current Early Access build, no functional gameplay difference has been documented between LONESTAR, VALKYRA and MANTICORE — the same arsenal and tracks are open to every soldier. The differences are identity, presentation and (per community reports) spawn vehicle pools. The factions page covers each company's background.
Is WARDOGS on Steam Deck?
Not natively — the anti-cheat blocks SteamOS/Linux, so WARDOGS has no Steam Deck compatibility rating and no Mac or Linux build. The community workaround is cloud streaming through GeForce NOW, which runs the game on Deck hardware via the browser.
What are the system requirements for WARDOGS?
Minimum: i5-8600 or Ryzen 5 3500, 16 GB RAM, GTX 1660 or RX 590 on Windows 10 64-bit. Recommended: i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 5700X with 16 GB RAM on Windows 11. The full spec table and tuning notes are on the system requirements page.
Does WARDOGS have a battle pass or pay-to-win?
The developer has promised no battle pass and no pay-to-win mechanics. Monetization details are still being discussed during Early Access, but the consensus reading of the current build is that cash — earned in matches — is the only path to gear, and the Supporter Edition adds cosmetics only.
How many players are in a WARDOGS match?
100 players split across three teams fight for one Control Zone each match. Squads are the small unit inside a team — you queue with friends into the same squad, and organized squads (Medic plus Support plus a Driver) consistently outperform loose groups on objectives.
Is WARDOGS worth buying in Early Access?
If you want large-scale combined-arms warfare with real stakes, EA is the cheapest entry point and the week-one community reception has been strongly positive — reviewers who spent 50+ hours in the beta call it the extraction-flavored Battlefield-style game they have wanted. The honest caveats: server queues at peak times, balance churn, and seasonal wipes that reset progression.
Does WARDOGS have gear insurance?
Not currently — unlike many extraction-style shooters, WARDOGS has no insurance system, which was one of the loudest community requests during the first EA week. Treat every loadout as a calculated risk: armor is the closest thing to loss mitigation you can buy.
